The Phoenix Flower is an item available during the Spring Spree event. Players can exchange them amongst themselves for the chance to earn exclusive avatar frames during the Spring Spree event.

This species of flower came into being as Talene was reborn, and quickly became a favorite gift among Esperians during the winter time. Phoenix flowers are fashioned into lanterns once they reach peak bloom, and their warmth is said to provide protection against Hypogeans during the darkest, coldest time of the year.

Item Details[]

"People believed that, provided the Finch which resides above Esperia does not die, the Phoenix Flowers on Esperia shall not vanish. Fortunately, they bloom year after year." - Solise's Botanical Notes (items will be recalled after event ends.)

Lore[]

Pheonix Flower Diagram

A diagram of a Phoenix Flower.

Legend has it that when the Obsidian Finch, Talene, was reborn from the fire, a giant tree in the Dark Forest bloomed, its flowers fiery red. Each of these blossoms was the shape of lick of flame, almost feather-like. Hence, the folks of Esperia named them "Phoenix Flowers."

The first flowers that blossomed were like Talene's falling crimson tears. As they bloom, a radiance is emitted from the stamen, and the sacred flame at Esperia's core opened, allowing Talene to enter Esperia.

Born of Talene's brilliant light, Phoenix Flowers are gathered by the forest-dwelling folk when they are in full bloom, which are turned into lanterns that ward off evil.

Later, the Phoenix Flowers would gradually prove to be Esperia's most important winter time gift. Folks of all races were illuminated and warmed by the flowers, which provided warmth and protection from Hypogeans during the darkest, coldest time of the year.

Anatomy[]

Glowing Core[]

Glowing Core

"Every year when the weather reached its lowest point, the Phoenix Flower blooms. The tree's soul tells me that when people hang their wishes on its branches, it is not only a time of great joy for the people, but also for the blossoms. The blossom's chatter excitedly about their wishes for Talene. Supposedly, the source of their luminosity, the Celestial, who dwells upon the mountain's peak" - Solise's Botanical Notes, "Phoenix Flower".

Fertile Stem[]

Fertile Stem

"I attempted to light the wick of my oil lamp on a fully bloomed Phoenix Flower's Glowing Core stamen, but it went out almost immediately. These tiny specks of light are indeed fragile. Perhaps it's not as effective as just holding the flower in one's hand? The stems are pliable and soft, they can be contorted into all manner of shapes, and if the blossom remains on the stem, it cannot injure your skin. Maybe they'll become the forest's most popular seasonal decorant? Kaz took one on patrol to light the way, but came back complaining that there wasn't a demon in sight. Could I dare speculate that these flowers might keep those nasty creatures at bay?" - Solise's Botanical Notes, "Phoenix Flower".

Plume Petal[]

Plume Petal

"With Arden's guidance, I sought out clues about the Finch in ancient tomes. In the end, according to what I found in those ancient works, I have divided the Phoenix Flower into two varieties; Plume Petal, and Twin Wing Petal.

Experience tells me that fire-related plant life typically has touchable areas that pose no threat of injury when touched, in this case, the brightest and warmest part of the Phoenix Flower. The Plume Petals grow around the outside of the blossom, thick or sparse, there is no consistency. They aren't as uniform as some other plants in the forest, but resemble the slender, vibrant tail plumes of an Obsidian Finch. These petals do not burn and cannot be ignited. I took a number of the blossoms and pressed them into a juice which I then soaked a small cloth in. When I attempted to ignite the cloth, it proved resistant to my efforts. However, it was not able to insulate any heat. Perhaps it is simply a question of fabric choice? I can discuss this point with others..." - Solise's Botanical Notes, "Phoenix Flower".

Twin Wing Petal[]

Twin Wing Petal

"Incredible. I've discovered it has unexpected medicinal value. The wing-like petals encircling the stamen have the potential to dispel pyretic toxin and cryo toxin. Hopefully that child that accidentally ate the petals won't experience any ill side effects... Nemora is taking care of her. The Goddess has blessed her, this is probably a divine gift of both the gods and nature. Tomorrow I should go check up on her" - Solise's Botanical Notes, "Phoenix Flower".
