"Pardon the inconvenience"
-Liberta
Liberta is an intelligence-based support of the Celestial faction. He can link an ally with an enemy, dividing their health and if that ally is healed, part of the healing amount will be converted to health loss for the enemy. Linked ally's health won't be lower than before the connection, linked enemy's health won't be higher. When Liberta fights alongside Lucilla, the connection effect is enhanced.
Personality[]
Background[]
Liberta wasn't born a god. In fact, his birth was a rebellion against the gods. Two millennia ago, during the Age of Arcana, human civilization flourished. Led by the warlord Gaius, humanity waged war against the gods. To strengthen their cause, an unnamed alchemist conceived a prohibited rite that converted ordinary people into god-like weapons. Liberta and his sister Lucilla were such weapons, referred to as " Dawn" and "Dusk."
Yet, these weapons demanded significant magical energy. In response, Gaius instructed his forces to build the Cradle of Truth, a unique facility. As the Cradle's magic reserves reached their zenith, the dormant power within the siblings would awaken, bestowing them godlike abilities.
Ultimately, the plan failed. News of these "weapons" leaked before they were activated. The gods assaulted the Cradle of Truth, and the Dawn and Dusk were sealed in an arcane container by the alchemist, destined to be reawakened in the future.
Two millennia had passed, and the Celestials rediscovered the container, which was then swiftly intercepted by the Hypogeans. Through a convoluted and often violent series of exchanges, the container wound up with an unusual pair: Celestial Gavus and Hypogean Eugene. Freed from their confinement, Dawn and Dusk opened their eyes to see the men before them. Yet, the oddity of their peaceful unity remained lost on them. In fact, Liberta naturally smiled at them as if they were his parents.
Gavus and Eugene were stunned by the revelation that these weapons coveted by their factions were infants. Originally, Gavus sought to regain favor among the Celestials by recovering them. Over time, though, he forged a strong bond with Eugene and the two siblings. They couldn't possibly regard these innocent children as instruments of war, yet their factions remained unconvinced. To protect them from the conflict, Gavus and Eugene withdrew from the war, spiriting the children away. Amid their escape, danger and death loomed. Still, they ultimately eluded their pursuers, finding refuge in a remote corner of the Dark Forest.
Gavus and Eugene adopted the children as their own, renaming them. "Lucilla, for a life illuminated with brilliance and grandeur. Liberta, for a life brimming with freedom and the power to carve his own destiny."
Those were the most joyful days in Liberta's life. He had a name and two devoted fathers, despite their differing personalities. Arguments between Gavus and Eugene were frequent, yet trivial.
Eugene, the sly Hypogean, delighted in hatching tricks aimed at Gavus.
Paradoxically, his well-thought-out pranks often floundered against the unyielding Gavus, backfiring remarkably.
With time, young Lucilla became Eugene' s accomplice in mischief. She mirrored his cunning, spending hours devising methods to vex Gavus. Prior to executing their pranks, Lucilla ensured that her honest brother, Liberta, wouldn't warn their father. Gavus, however, proved challenging to deceive, leading to frequent punishment for their scheming-Liberta included, for not telling the truth.
Under the watchful eyes of Gavus and Eugene, the siblings blossomed into happy, healthy children. However, their peaceful lives were fleeting. By the time the pair reached three years old, the united forces of Celestials and Hypogeans had found their refuge and launched a pursuit.
Gavus and Eugene fell into the clutches of their factions, facing identical fates:
lifelong imprisonment. Lucilla and Liberta were also separated from one another and had their memories sealed away. Soon, they began training as hidden weapons in the age-old Celestial-Hypogean conflict. Both sides eagerly awaited the day when the Cradle of Truth would be reactivated.
A decade later, as the Cradle of Truth reawakened, Liberta led his Celestial comrades toward it. On the opposing end stood Lucilla, commanding her Hypogean forces, poised for swift action. With the Cradle fully powered, both factions surged forward, vying for its magical energy. Liberta and Lucilla dived headlong into the fray.
As the siblings confronted each other, their combat intensity spiraled uncontrollably. Having absorbed immense energy from the Cradle of Truth, Liberta and Lucilla unleashed their ultimate strikes. The clash created a shockwave, violently shattering the battleground and shrouding it in dust and debris.
The Celestials and Hypogeans ceased their fighting and stared intently, waiting for the cloud of dust to settle and hoping to see their secret weapon emerge from within.
As the dust cleared, hope faded for both sides. Liberta and Lucilla had vanished. Only the shattered remains of the Cradle of Truth could be seen. Unexpectedly, the seals of memory had broken during their clash. Recovering their memories, the siblings redirected their attacks and fled amid the chaos. Reunited, the long-lost siblings still lacked two vital family members.
"Liberta, it's time to show them what we can really do!”
